To the i.ph staff, thanks for providing us with great-looking templates and user-friendly blogging interface, all for free!
Here’s what I think about the popup ads…
Some new i.ph visitors may not understand the whole ad thing blocking the page, it’s actually a big turn-off to new site visitors who wouldn’t know what to do with the large image, especially those using 10″ netbooks.
Don’t expect every i.ph visitor to know that they just need to click on the “close” button at the upper right part of the image to close the popup ad.
My suggestion? A small-sized non-blocking ad, located prominently at the sidebars or above the header image, or as a fixed template at the bottom part of the page would do.
IMO, an ad that blends with the page is much better, and more effective, as it doesn’t present itself as an obstruction to browsing the site. They also stay on the page for the whole time the content is being accessed.
In comparison, popup ads only appear for few seconds, most visitor would immediately close it and not every visitor would want to click them as they would want to immediately read the blog content.
First impression is very important, why not make i.ph blogs more inviting to visitors, providing them content ready for browsing, without letting them pass through some obstruction.
Just my two cents… don’t get me wrong, I love i.ph!

I’ve owned this north face jacket for about a month now and I can honestly say that it does a great job in all conditions. The 3 in 1 North Face Triclimate is good for days that go from bluebird hikes to raging blizzard at the top, and the north face outlet breathes very well.
