Add People to your Privileged Groups
May 28, 2007I.PH's privacy settings really sets itself apart from the pack because it gives you the ability to add people to your Privileged Group even if they aren't on I.PH. Today, I'm going to show you how. It's really easy!
Login to you I.PH account and click on DASHBOARD on your top bar to enter your control panel. Click on Add People to open the Add Connections Dialog box:
On the box that says, "Specify Email Address", enter the name and the email of the people you want to add in the corresponding boxes. Once you're done doing that click on "Continue.
It will open another dialog box. Use the drop down menus to select which group you want to put them in and click "Add users."

These users will then be added to the groups or groups you selected. Whenever you post an article that is only for these people, they will receive an email notification in the email you provided with a link to your hidden post. They will only be able to view your private post by following the link that is supplied to them. This link is good for 15 days, after which it will expire.
A much faster way for you to input email addresses is by importing your contacts from your existing webmail accounts on gmail, yahoo or hotmail. Proceed as above but now instead of specifying the names and emails click on "Use my Webmail Contacts". Enter your webmail username, password and select which webmail account you'll be importing from, using the drop down menu. Then click import.
It will open a dialog box where you can choose the appropriate group you want to include your contacts in. Use the drop down menu to enter your selection. After which click on add users and they will be added to the privileged group you assigned them to.
Being able to easily build your different privileged groups will allow you to practice targeted posting. This simply means that you can start posting articles that you intend only a certain group or groups to see while keeping it hidden from everyone else. I for one use it to separate personal posts from posts intended for my workmates. Try it out for yourselves and share with us the uses you'll find for this very unique feature in the I.PH Forums! Catch you again soon! Blog on!
