Hot off the I.ph labs: goodies in development

June 7, 2006

It’s crazy here in the office as everyone’s psyched  for the upcoming soft launch of I.ph Version 2. We know that we’ve announced this quite some time ago and while we do get a kick out of keeping you guys hanging, we’ll be kind enough to give you a sneak peak at what we have under the veil:

Comprehensive Profile pages:

We’ve put in a lot of work into the profile pages to make it leagues better than the boring, generic profile pages out there. The key here, people, is AJAX integration. What is AJAX? well it’s just a fancy way of saying that pages load faster and you can move around individual components on the page by simply dragging and dropping them. Below is a screenshot of what the profile pages would look like:

The profile page allows you to aggregate all the data you have scattered all over the web into one convenient place. From Social networking sites like Friendster, Myspace, and Multiply to photo hosting sites like Flickr, Photobucket, Fotothing and twenty three; to your YouTube videos and Del.icio.us links; The I.ph version 2 profile pages will give your reader a better, more comprehensive look of who you really are.

Editing made easy and made on the fly

Of course we didn’t forget about our blogs. Thanks to AJAX, the blogs now load faster as only specific elements of the page reload when changes to them are made; and unlike traditional websites where you have to republish the entire blog when you change the layout, changes are made ON THE FLY. Sidebar elements can also be rearranged with ease by simply dragging and dropping them anywhere on the sidebar.

The screenshot below should give you a better idea on what to expect:
