Mon David wins world Jazz competition

Jazz singer Mon David won the grand prize in the prestigious London International Jazz Competition (LIJC) last Wednesday, besting 106 vocalists from 27 countries.

The 52-year-old native of Pampanga province began his performance at the finals-held at the Cadogan Hall in London’s Sloane Square-with a few bars of an ethnic chant, singing a cappella the first lines of "Nature Boy," and then crooning "My One and Only Love" and "Lullaby of Birdland."

As LIJC Jazz Vocalist 2006, David will receive 1,000 euros (nearly P90,000) and take on engagements at the Jagz in Ascot and the 606 Club in Chelsea.

Our very own Mon David bagged top honors in the recently concluded London International Jazz Competition. Being the only Asian who made it to the finals of the prestigious competition, Mon bested the twelve other finalists in addition to standing out from over one hundred other participants from 27 countries who joined.

Did you know that I.ph puts the power of mobile blogging right in the palm of your hands?

The post via Email feature turns any mobile device with WAP, GPRS or WIFI access into a blog publishing tool. Simply login to your I.ph control panel and click the post via Email link to set-up this neat feature.

Now you can blog right off your Mobile Phone or PDA by:

1. Creating a new email message. The subject line will be posted as the title of the entry. Photos/videos may also be included in the email as attachments.

2. Addressing the email to <secretcode>.<category>@<blogname>.<yourdomain>i.ph.

e.g.
its3am.bookreviews@news.i.ph or
its3am.poetry@myblog.news.i.ph

(If the "blogname" is not specified, the entry will be posted on the default blog. If the "category" does not exist, the entry will be posted under the "General" category.)
